Magnetic particle testing demonstrates cracks by means of magnetic powder and magnetisation on or just under the surface of ferromagnetic substances. The indication becomes visible due to the contrast between the test medium used and the subsurface. This most frequently used method for surface crack testing has very high sensitivity. It is used on many building sites on a mobile basis.

Longitudinal and transverse cracks on the various components can be determined economically using a stationary magnetic crack test bench. From single piece testing with a weight of 750 kg to large series testing for the automotive and aerospace industries, a corresponding test option is available in Frankenthal. The residual magnetisation can be adjusted to the prescribed limit values using a demagnetisation tunnel.
