Permeability differences in electroconductive material, caused by inhomogeneities, e.g. inlays or cracks and structural changes, change the eddy current density compared to the uninfluenced base material. Small changes in material properties or distances of the measuring probe from the material surface lead to significant indications, which are evaluated. This test is used as a surface crack and corrosion analysis.
